Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Celo.Cardiomyocytes?
Celo.Cardiomyocytes are induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) derived ventricular cardiomyocytes. These are functional, self-beating cardiomyocytes with well developed electrophysiological characteristics with high sensitivity to inotropic drugs. The cells are cultured under serum-free conditions and with its complementary Advanced Medium, you can perform experiments in completely serum-free condition.
  • What is Celogics Suit?
Celogics Suit is a custom iPSC differentiation service offered by Celogics. Through this service, you are able to obtain the specific cell type you need from iPSC lines with genetic modifications or traits as needed. Our service can reproduce published protocols with any type of iPSC line, so feel free to reach out to us!
  • What is the origin of the cells?
Currently, Celo.Cardiomyocytes are differentiated from a single iPSC line reprogrammed from the skin fibroblasts of a Caucasian male donor. For the Customized Cells, you can provide us with the iPSC line you have or consult with us for availability.
  • What is the shelf life of the cardiomyocyte products?
The expiry date is indicated on the product labels. Our Celo.Cardiomyocytes can be stored at -196°C (liquid nitrogen) for up to 2 years. The Celo.Cardiomyocytes Media has a shelf life of up to 6 months, when stored at 2 - 8°C.
  • How long can I culture Celo.Cardiomyocytes?
With Advanced Media, we suggest that users culture Celo.Cardiomyocytes for a maximum of 5 weeks. However, we have not observed any issues from users who culture for longer periods in various tissue formats. In fact, many of our users have been able to successfully culture these cells for several months.
